The Canvas Student app is available for free on the App/Google Play store. Students can download this app to their devices. The Canvas app should already be available on Providence College-issues iPads

Step 1: Creating and Assignment

Students will need an assignment to upload materials to Canvas.

You can create an assignment in Canvas through your course site at canvas.providence.edu.

From the iPad and Canvas Student App, students can access documents associated with an assignment by touching the screen. They can open documents by selecting the link in the assignment.

You can only annotate in the Canvas tool if the document is a PDF. For PDFs, you will see the ”pencil,” icon shown below, otherwise, the document will need to be saved to the iPad and annotated in another tool. You can select the ”export” icon shown below to save the document to the iPad.

Step 2: Uploading through the Share icon

Once the student has completed the assignment, they can upload by first clicking on the “Share” icon in their app. Most apps have this icon located in the upper-right corner

Step 3: Selecting the Canvas app, the assignment and submitting

Once the share icon is selected, students should then see the Canvas Student app available for submission

Once selected, they can now select the appropriate course and assignment in Canvas they can also add a comment before submitting.
